The Linguistics Department is located on the third floor of Boylston Hall. Boylston Hall is an imposing gray stone building on the southern edge of Harvard Yard (along Massachusetts Ave.), directly adjacent to Widener library. Use the map at right or the Harvard Campus Map to view our precise location.

Directions

Subway

Take the Red Line to Harvard Square Station. Walk along Massachusetts Ave. toward Harvard Yard and enter through the Wadsworth Gate, the McKean Gate, or the Wigglesworth Gate.

Bus

Take the 1, 68, or 69 bus to Massachusetts Ave. & Holyoke St. Enter Harvard Yard through the Wadsworth Gate.

Take the 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 77, 78, or 96 bus to Harvard Busway & Red Line. From the corner of Massachusetts Ave. and Church St., enter Harvard Yard through the Johnston Gate. Boylston Hall will be ahead and to the right.

I-95

Take exit 25 onto I-90 E.

I-90 Eastbound

Take exit 18, then take a left onto Cambridge St. Turn right onto Plympton St. then left onto Massachusetts Ave.  Harvard Yard will be on the right.

I-93 Northbound

Take exit 20 to merge onto I-90 W., then take exit 20 and bear right onto Cambridge St. Turn right onto Plympton St. then left onto Massachusetts Ave.  Harvard Yard will be on the right.

I-93 Southbound

Take exit 26 onto MA-3 N. Follow signs for Storrow Drive W., then take the Massachusetts 2A N. exit on the left and turn right onto Massachusetts Ave. Continue for about 2 miles. Harvard Yard will be on the right.

Parking

Parking in Cambridge is by permit only. Harvard campus services provides parking information for visitors and an interactive parking map. Guests invited to the department in need of a parking permit should contact Helen Lewis for assistance.
