Meaning and Modality Lab Meeting

Sadie Pate will be presenting the paper "Mnemonic effect of iconic gesture and beat gesture in adults and children: Is meaning in gesture important for memory recall?" by Wing Chee So, Colin Sim Chen-Hui & Julia Low Wei-Shan, as well as her proposal for a new extension study.

Ricciardi Presenting at TedLab, LingLunch

Giuseppe Ricciardi will be giving two talks at MIT this week, both titled: "She must be mad" Really? Must? Epistemic must statements are felt "weak" because they are usually false.  This talk is joint work with Edward Gibson (MIT)  and Rachel A. Ryskin (MIT).

Harvard at EMNLP

Ethan Wilcox gave a talk titled "What do RNN Models Learn about Filler-Gap Dependencies?" at the 2018 Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP 2018), held in Brussels, Belgium on Thursday, November 1.  This talk is joint work with Roger Levy (MIT), Takashi Morita (MIT), and Richard Futrell (MIT).
