## **Welcome and welcome back!** 

A warm welcome back to everyone! Hope everybody had wonderful summer holiday.

Many excellent linguists are joining us this year as graduate students, lecturer and visitors. They are:

- G1 students Nicholas Mori (phonology), Ellora Rich (historical) and Hillary Small (historical);
- lecturer Noa Bassel;
- New Visiting Scholar [Yaqi Wang](https://linguistics.fas.harvard.edu/people/yaqi-wang) from the College of Foreign Languages, Yuzhang Normal University; and
- New Fellow [Tong Shu](https://linguistics.fas.harvard.edu/people/tong-shu) from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

## **Linguistics Department Fall Reception**

The Department of Linguistics will hold its Fall Reception to welcome new and returning students, visitors, faculty and staff on **September 11th, 5-7pm**. Light refreshments will be provided on **Boylston Hall, 3rd floor**. See you all then!
