Week of Sept 23

Fall Reception

The department held its Fall Reception in the department lounge in Boylston Hall on Sept 19th! It was so nice to see so many faculties, students, staff, visitors and friends reunited or joining us at the start of the semester. Our colleagues from the boosted ASL programme were particularly welcome. Hope everyone has an enriching semester.

Beguš back at Harvard!

The first talk in the Harvard Linguistics Series this semester was given by our very own alum Gašper Beguš on Friday Sept 20th! The title of the talk was 'Building realistic models of language with deep learning' and it attracted students outside the Linguistics Department and even Harvard!

At the reception on Thursday, the entire department congratulated Gašper on his recent achievement on getting a retroactive tenure as an Associate Professor at UCB with ... a cake!

Thanks so much for your talk and huge congratulations again, Gašper! We look forward to seeing you again!
